Windows Leak Puts Computers, Servers At Risk

Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 source code was leaked recently. This means devices run on XP and Server 2003 operating systems are now even more vulnerable to attack. Microsoft hasn't supported these outdated operating systems since 2014.

Hackers can identify potential weak points that make it easier to design malware that Microsoft likely won't bother defending. This could leave your entire organizational network exposed to outside threats if one of these operating systems is still in use.

Do this if you're still using Windows XP

The best way to prevent cyberattacks is to upgrade your computer to a newer operating system. This will ensure your device is still supported by Microsoft through security updates.

Option 1: Purchase a new computer with Windows 10 already installed. Below are the packages we recommend. However, customizable packages for laptops and desktops are available.

  • Basic – 3000 Series | Access internet and use Microsoft Office
  • Standard – 5000 Series | Can have multiple windows open at the same time
  • Advanced – 7000 Series | Runs large, memory-heavy applications

Option 2: Upgrade your computer to Windows 10.

Note: This may not be an option if you are either using a non-compatible application or your current PC does not have the correct specifications. Go to Microsoft's How to Find Windows 10 Computer Specifications & Systems Requirements page.

Servers can be a bit more complicated than simply upgrading or replacing a PC. There are more options when upgrading a server, such as moving to virtual, upgrading the operating system or increasing resources to handle a new operating system. The best option would be to set up a consultation so we can present all of your options.
